Spring is in the air. Right now your mind is probably set on spending some time out soaking up the rarity of the sun’s rays, as Spring is notorious for bringing rain and shine at somewhat unpredictable times. You also probably have your mind on the fact that there is a lot of spring cleaning to do. It’s time to open up the curtains and windows, air out the dungeon, clean out the garage, and rake the yard.
Your home and yard aren’t the only things that are in need of some spring cleaning. If it hasn’t hit you yet, summer is a mere two months away…even closer if you live in a more tropical climate. This means you’ve gotta hit the body related spring cleaning hard if you’re going to be ready to dawn those tanks, shorts, and bathing suits in a few short weeks.
H.I.T the Gym
Even if your goal isn’t to have the Baywatch body and have everybody stare at you enviously as you run along the shore of the beach, you’re still going to want to hit the gym in preparation for summer. Summer is full of outdoor activities. Whether that means hiking, swimming, volleyball, strolls along Main Street, or hard labor slaving away in the garden, you’ve got to be ready for it.
Try out the H.I.T. technique. It stands for high interval training and is a surefire way to whip your body to shape in record time. Do this and make cardio and strength training a regular occurrence, and you’ll be summer body ready faster than you know.
Eat All the Greens
This is information you’ve been told all your life, but following through with the plan and having good intentions to follow through with the plan are two very different things. Even if you have plans to barbeque a lot this spring and summer, try doing thing a little differently to bring more greens and ultimate health to your body. Instead of eating the burners on two buns, try one bun, or a lettuce wrap. You’ll hardly miss the bread and you’ll feel lighter and more energized for it.
Primp and Prune
This is where things get a little more real. If you want to have a body that is summer ready, you’ve got to attend to the areas that get a little neglected during the dark, winter months. Get a shave and a haircut, wax the brows and other areas that need it, lay out in the sun to take the edge of your sun deprived skin, and attend to yourself.
The summer is a time for you to enjoy life. If you’re lucky enough to have a job that allows you summers off, great. Otherwise, you’re using your weekends to their full advantage. Do all the things mentioned here and you find that you’re feeling ready for the summer before the summer is even ready for you.
