While you can do almost anything you want to ensure you’re smart and you keep your head safe, like wearing helmets when you ride motorcycles or bicycles, there are things that can happen to damage your brain, or your spine, and cause you permanent issues. Things happen, but rather than dwell on what might be, do what you can right now to keep your brain healthy and happy.
Eating Brain Healthy Foods
The first step to keeping your brain healthy is to eat foods that help promote brain health. Think healthy eating and you’ll pretty much come across an array of foods that are great for your brain.
Berries, from blueberries to cherries, are rich in antioxidants, which help clean toxins from your bloodstream. They are really healthy and can even help boost your immune system. Think of greasing the gears when it comes to brain foods and you’ll think of healthy oils, like those in fish and avocados.
Cut back on the empty calories and refined sugar. Not only do they help you put on weight, but they can cloud your thoughts and judgement as well. Refined sugar is just bad for you.
Getting Exercise
A good cardio workout can go right to your head. As in, it releases those feel good hormones called endorphins. It can help give you more energy in the long run, and help you clear your head. If you want more focus, get more fitness.
Exercising Your Brain
Keeping your brain trained has been said to do wonders for things like memory, and fighting off brain related illnesses such as Alzheimer’s Disease and Parkinson’s Disease. Some studies say playing games, like crossword puzzles, can help, and others say it makes no difference.
However, doing these things, and even simply reading a book, can keep your brain active, and help you stretch your imagination, and that’s still good for a happy brain!
Being Social
Being social is another way to increase your focus and happiness, and your brain health. Hang around people with similar interests, and positive attitudes, to help you be more happy and positive. You may notice that your mood can easily be altered by the mood of the people you spend time with.
Getting Enough Sleep
Last, but not least, get some sleep. Your body heals itself during sleep, so it needs that six to eight hours for healing and rejuvenation. Plus, ensuring you are getting enough sleep each night will also help your brain with focus issues. Too little sleep can slower reaction times and more.
Not everyone needs the same amount of sleep. Six hour may be too little for some, and just enough for others. You’ll know when you’re getting enough when you find yourself more focused each day.
