Let’s be honest. We could all use an improvement in our eating habits from time to time. Sometimes it’s simply far too easy to fill our stomachs with quick, easy, and cheap food that does nothing for our body nutritionally. Just because something is cheap, doesn’t mean it has to be bad for your health. If you’re not really sure how to even begin to modify your body’s nutritional intake for the better, then you’re in the right spot. Here is a quick summary of a few healthy eating habits that are beneficial for everyone.
Eat more organic fruits and veggies
You should aim to consume about three servings of veggies, and two servings of fruit every single day. Fruits and vegetables provide your body with a plethora of useful nutrients and vitamins. Organic vegetables are even better! They taste better. They are more pure, as they haven’t been subjected to any pesticides or gmo’s. You would probably be buying these fruits and vegetables from a locally grown farm, so you’re actually helping your community neighbors just as much as you’re helping yourself and/or your family.
Eat more whole grain breads and cereals
This is an especially important rule of thumb if you have children. Don’t fall into the trap that is sugar filled kids cereals. It’s not good for you, and it’s especially not good for your children. It teaches them bad eating habits, and forces their little bodies to work overtime to break down all that sugar. If you train their tastebuds while they’re young, your children will crave healthy foods when they are older. You set them up for failure when you allow them to think that a sugary bowl of cereal is harmless.
Drink more water
If you live on this planet, it’s safe to say that someone has told you to drink more water. You should probably take that advice. The body is composed mostly of water. Without water, you die. It’s that crucial. Take your body weight, and cut it in half. That’s how many ounces of water you should be drinking on a daily basis. The same goes for your children. If you get them used to drinking water at a young age, you may eliminate the risk of soda addiction when they’re grown.
More fish and nuts
Fish and nuts are the miracle food for humans. They’re loaded with unsaturated fats and a slew of other beneficial vitamins and nutrients. These types of foods will fill you up, and never leave you feeling hungry twenty minutes later. They’re meaty foods, only without the meat. Fish is also good for supplying valuable omega-3’s, which are good for reducing the risk for heart disease. Quite the opposite effect of eating loads of red meat.
