You may not think much about your dirty home, aside from it being an occasional eyesore or causing you some mild embarrassment when someone comes over to visit unexpectedly. A messy house is more than just an eyesore, it can cause health issues depending on what kind of mess you have. Even just a little clutter can cause stress.
Grime In Floors And Carpets
When was the last time you scrubbed your kitchen or bathroom floor? If you have tile floors your grout could be harboring some pretty gross stuff. In fact, there could even be some toxic mold in that grout which could cause respiratory issues (including asthma) in the people living in your home.
Instead of risking it, get that grout cleaned. You will get a much better cleaning job done if you bring in the professionals. Doing it yourself will require some good chemicals and possibly a toothbrush.
Your carpet could be home to a bunch of grossness and gunk as well. If you’re not vacuuming on a daily basis and you don’t have a carpet with some really good suction, you may be missing a ton of stuff in the carpet. Food, pet hair, dirt, dust and more can hide in there. Shampoo it once in awhile, don’t just vacuum.
Dust
Speaking of dust, your carpet isn’t the only part of your home that might be harboring some of this nastiness. Dust is filled with all sorts of particles, including human skin. If you have allergies you may find you’re sensitive to dust as well.
Vacuuming can take care of some of this, but you need to move your furniture around and vacuum under it. You also want to dust on and around all of the furniture and stuff in your home.
Mold
Mold, like dust, can hide in all sorts of problems. While most mold is just a minor nuisance, if you have black mold in your home it can cause all kinds of problems. Bleach is one great way to kill mold, but there may be mold in places you can’t find it.
Start by looking under sinks, and even checking under your home, in areas where there may be leaks. Black mold often hides behind walls, so it helps to know the signs so you know whether or not to suspect it.
Dander And Other Pet Things
Pets are another thing that can cause you health problems in your home. Even if you aren’t already allergic to them, a build up of dander and fur can make you feel like you are. Vacuuming on a regular basis is a must in a home with pets.
You might also want to get some sort of carpet powder that helps remove odors. Even the cleanest pets leave odors in your carpet and furniture.
