There’s always a time of the day when our eyes just want to close and make us want to snooze. For many, it can be after lunchtime. For the others, it can be late in the morning while at work or early in the afternoon.
It’s okay to take a quick nap if this happens. It’s pretty normal and not something to be ashamed of.
Getting a nap is necessary to recharge the brain and the body as well. A quick or the so-called power nap actually helps in improving a person’s productivity, according to a new research. By resting the brain for a few minutes, the study found that the mind is able to focus more, classify data, form new memories and get rid of unwanted data.
The researchers, during the annual meeting of neuroscientists in New Orleans, revealed that when the mind is at rest, the two sides of the brain keep working on different things. The left side was observed to be quiet while the right hemisphere was found to be doing important tasks which they believed to help in cleaning unwanted information and classifying data.
A power nap normally lasts for only five minutes. The researchers, however, pointed out that sometimes people can fall asleep beyond that time while the others are just able to rest their mind.
But whatever the brain is doing, what matters is one can recharge his mind and work better when he or she gets a power nap in between his work shift. So get a quick nap and have more work power.
