As the real cigarettes are now strictly regulated worldwide and more places are being designated as non-smoking areas, those who love to puff smoke are left with little choice. Many have turned to the electronic cigarettes to satisfy their craving.
E-cigarettes are devices powered by a battery and provides nicotine vapor in an aerosol. They come in different flavors such as mint, vanilla, cookies and cream, milkshake, fruit and chocolate. As of 2013, an estimated 2.5 million people in the U.S. are e-cigarette smokers. Sales for this device have also risen from $20 million in 2008 to $500 million in 2012. In the U.K., reports said some 700,000 Britons were using e-cigs in 2012.
Many users have found the device to be a good alternative to the genuine cigarettes. They agree that it’s not only affordable but it also makes them feel like they’re still using the usual tobacco cigarette and can help them in their goal of eventually kicking their habit.
It Tastes Like Cigarette
Although the electronic cigarette does not contain tobacco, many users have confirmed that it still tastes so much like the real thing. The only difference is that this device utilizes liquid nicotine that produces vapor which people can inhale and exhale.
Low Cost
Affordability is another major reason why a growing number of smokers have turned to the e-cigarettes. Being a reusable device, it allows users to save money for the long term.
With the rising cost of a pack of cigarette these days, using the electronic version would be an ideal move. This is most ideal for people who are still not ready to totally give up their smoking habit but who see themselves quitting in the future.
Way to Quit Smoking
Using the e-cigs has also been found to be a stepping stone in a person’s desire to eventually stop his smoking habit. A 2013 survey of the American consumers done by GfK showed that 8 percent of adults who smoked cigarettes in the past year used the electronic device as a way to kick their habit. The e-cigarettes ranked second among the other options preferred by smokers after the so-called cold turkey (11 percent). Other alternatives to quit smoking being used today are patches (6 percent), pills (5 percent) and gum (4 percent).
The same survey revealed that more male smokers above 18 years old are using the e-cigs at 56 percent. The females comprise 44 percent.
A final note, remember to take things in moderation. While the e-cigarette may be the popular alternative today, the fact that you’re still inhaling nicotine although in liquid form into your lungs is still unhealthy and unsafe.
